Gilbert H. Tuepker

EDMOND —     Gilbert H. Tuepker, 84, of Edmond, Okla., passed away quietly Friday, July 13, 2012, surrounded by the presence and spirit of his loving family.  Gilbert was born February 13, 1928, in Okmulgee, Okla., to Gilbert H. Tuepker, Sr., and Doris M. Tuepker.

He graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City, Okla., after serving in the US Navy as a Storekeeper, 3rd Class.  He attended college first in Kansas City, Mo., and then at Oklahoma A&M College.  While in college he married Mildred “Ditty” Boatright on January 29, 1949.  Although his  primary work career included 17 years operating the lab and managing production at Triple “AAA” Root Beer Company in Oklahoma City and acting as the owner/operator of a commercial hog farm northeast of Edmond, his true career and vocation was raising five children who were his pride and joy. He was a devoted and committed father, husband and grandpa.

Gilbert enjoyed being on the open road in his motor home with as much of the family as he could tow along, camping at Roaring River or in Colorado where he could meet, tease and joke with other campers and sit by the camp fire in the evenings with his kids and grandkids.  When not camping, he enjoyed his life on his 40 acre spread east of Edmond which he and Ditty made “home” to the whole family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Catherine Castle of Ft. Worth, Texas.

Gilbert is survived by his wife of the home; children Jan Tuepker of Edmond, Jerri Caskey and husband Don of Newark, Del.; Jacki and husband Jeff Cowan of Guthrie, Okla.; Max Tuepker and Jinger Harris, both of Edmond; grandchildren Kelly Cowan, Jill Eleson, Tara Tuepker, Aaron Harris, Kena Thompson, Randi Stoll, and LCpl. Kye Tuepker, and great grandchildren, Emma, Tyler, Violet, Boone, Colin, Hadley, and Wade; his sister Doris and husband Jerry Crews of Kansas City, and extended family.

The family thanks the staff at Edmond Hospital and Grace Living Center for the care and comfort provided during Gilbert’s last days.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly, Edmond.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an Alzheimer’s Association of your choice.
