Freda Bell Gambill


EDMOND —     Freda Bell Gambill,  90, of Guthrie, Okla., passed away April 20, 2014 at Willow Creek Health Care in Guthrie. She was born December 7, 1923 in Texas to Omar and Orpha Yates.

    Freda graduated from Blanchard High School. She had lived in the Tuttle, Guthrie, Edmond and Oklahoma City areas. Freda was co owner of Gambill Construction and retired in 1985. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, singing, building and fixing things, helping other people and spending time with her grandkids.

    Survivors include her children Robert Baxter of Edmond and Carolyn Baxter of Oklahoma City; her sisters Gwendolyn Bumgardner and husband Kenny of Tuttle, and Virginia Weaver and husband Wayne of Yukon. She is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Gambill in 1996, son Butch Baxter in 1959, grandchild Shawn Copley, great grandchild Alexis Fields, four brothers and two sisters.

    Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Gene Owen of Companion Hospice officiating. Interment will be 2 p.m. at Fairview Memorial Cemetery in Tuttle. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

    Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday April 22.
