EDMOND —
Harold Leissler Riney, 98, beloved son, husband, father and friend, died in Lindale, Texas on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 after a brief illness. He was born January 24, 1915 near Temple, Okla. to the late William Edward Riney and Ethel Mae Crow.
Harold attended public school in and near Wichita Falls, Texas, and graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1958, where he received a diploma in theology.
After his marriage to Ada Mozell Armstrong on December 24, 1934 in Temple, he and Mozell lived and pastored several Southern Baptist churches including Wichita Falls and Fort Worth Texas; Davidson, Tyrone, Shidler, and Forgan, Okla., Pueblo, Colo., and Ozark, Ark.
He retired from the ministry in 1979 and later re-entered full time ministry at Kamay, Texas, retiring the last time in 1989.
Harold lived with Mozell near their daughter Jeretta Hayes in Edmond during retirement until 2002, when they moved to Omaha, Neb. with their youngest son, Jim Riney and wife Diane. In 2010 he returned to Texas and resided in a retirement center near his oldest son, Harold Riney and wife Kay. Harold remained mentally alert and enjoyed conversation and stories of the past until a few days prior to his death.
Harold and Mozell celebrated 71 years of marriage until her passing in 2006.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Molly Goff and son-in-law Kenneth Hayes.
He is survived by two sons, Hal and Kay Riney, and Jim and Diane Riney; daughter Jeretta Hays; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
