EDMOND —
David Ward Taylor, 63, longtime Oklahoma City attorney, died in an automobile accident on February 11, 2013. He was born April 16, 1949 in Norman, Okla. to David Walker Taylor and Shirley Ann Taylor. He had two sisters, Kay and Susan. He identified Oklahoma as his home state, although his family lived in California during his last two years of high school. He graduated from Glendale High School in 1967, attended Stanford University, and transferred to Oklahoma City University to receive his Bachelor’s degree in History. He put himself through law school at OCU and passed the Oklahoma bar in 1974.
He soon began his private law practice in Oklahoma City. In 1975 he took an acting class at the Oklahoma Theater Center to improve his trial skills and met a theater intern from California, Dana Rojas, and they were married May 1, 1976. They were blessed with two daughters, Sara and Cary. In 1983, the family moved to Edmond, where David would center his law practice for the rest of his career.
He was a dedicated Christian and family man, known for his rich singing voice and wry sense of humor. He participated in many of his daughters’ activities and imparted a deep reverence for Biblical principles to them. He gave away many hours of legal counsel and services to clients caught in difficult circumstances.
In 2007, he and his wife moved to her family home in California, near Biola University. He was able to pursue a life-long dream of attending seminary and received his Certificate of Biblical Studies in 2009. He later split his time between California and Oklahoma City to be closer to his parents, and practiced law part-time, while continuing to pursue his Master’s Degree in Apologetics from Biola.
David leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Dana Taylor; his daughters Sara Taylor Chasteen, Cary Taylor Solima and two grandchildren;and his mother, sisters, and nieces and nephews.
