EDMOND —     Richard E. Coulson, 70, of Edmond, Okla., died May 9, 2013, at home of cancer. He was born September 17, 1942, in Panhandle, Texas to Carroll M. Coulson and Mary E. (Davidson) Coulson.

    After clerking for District Court Judge Alfred P. Murrah, Richard became a professor of law at Oklahoma City University School of Law from 1972 until he retired, except for a brief time when he left and practiced bankruptcy law. He served as dean of the School of Law during part of his time at OCU. Richard also practiced arbitration law during his time at OCU and after. After retirement, Richard became very active in working with Chief District Judge Vicki Miles-LeGrange of the Western Court District on collecting an oral history on judges of the Western of the Federal Court of Oklahoma.

    Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn Deal Coulson; his mother, Mary of Edmond, Okla.; his sister, Carolyn Sue (Coulson) Manyik and husband Richard Manyik and their children and grandchildren; his daughter, Jana B. Lampe (and Jim) of Denton, Texas and their children, Ashley, Andrea and Austin; his daughter, Mary C. Coulson James (and Curtis) of Atlanta, Ga. and their daughter, Stephanie, and a son, Dr. Douglas M. Coulson, soon to be of Pittsburgh, Pa.
