Bruce K. Odgers
A memorial service for Bruce K. Odgers, 57, of Del Mar, Calif., formerly of Edmond, is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 222 N.W. 15th St. in Oklahoma City. A prior service took place Oct. 26, 2008, at the El Camino Memorial Gardens in San Diego, Calif.
Odgers was born April 28, 1951, in Hinsdale, Ill. He died Tuesday, Oct. 14, in San Diego, Calif.
Odgers moved to Edmond in 1960 with his family. He graduated from Edmond High School in 1969 and received a B.A. in marketing from Central State University in 1974. Odgers joined the U.S. Army Reserves 95th Infantry Division in 1969 and served with distinction. In 1975 he was commissioned an officer in the U.S. Navy and received his gold Naval Aviator wings in 1976. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1980, and then he embarked on a successful 25-year career as a pilot with Delta Airlines, flying routes all over the world. He retired as a Delta captain in 2005 and pursued a career as a private business jet pilot up until the time of his death.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Odgers; his three sons, David Odgers, Matthew Odgers and Patrick Odgers, all of the home; his father and mother, William and Sara May Odgers of Oklahoma City; his three brothers, Alan Odgers of Knoxville, Tenn., Rob Odgers of Phoenix, Ariz., and John Odgers of Oklahoma City; and 13 nieces and nephews.
