EDMOND —     Jack Kenneth Richardson, 80, passed away July 17, 2013.  He was born September 15, 1932 to Jack M. and Verle L. Richardson of Snyder, Okla. on a cotton farm during the dust bowl years.  

    Jack graduated from Snyder High School in 1950 and was very active in Boy Scouts and FFA, obtaining Eagle Scout and Junior Master Famer status.  He graduated from Oklahoma A&M in 1954 with a degree in Animal Husbandry and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.  

    Jack served in the US Army Infantry as a 1st Lieutenant for two years.  He married the love of his life, Jeanette Johnson, in 1957 and they had four children.  He graduated from OU in 1960 with a degree in geological engineering and became a registered professional engineer.  In 1974 he opened his own consulting office, continuing to work in the oil and gas industry until he retired.

    Jack and Jeanette were members of Church of the Servant where Jack enjoyed the fellowship of Buck and a Bible and Tuesday night Bible study. He loved his family and many dear friends, enjoyed helping others and making people laugh.  Fishing was his lifelong pastime, but he also enjoyed golf, bowling and biking.  

    Jack was preceded in death by his parents.

    He is survived by his wife, Jeanette, three daughters and one son:  Carolyn Richardson of Edmond, Okla., Susan Geatz of Oklahoma City, Okla., Sharon Long (Tony) of Dallas, Texas, and Jim Richardson (Lorrie) of Muskogee, Okla.  Also surviving are seven grandchildren:  Hunter Geatz, Hilary Richardson, Molly Richardson, Jack Richardson, Mary Catherine Long, Jacob Long and Tyler Long.  He leaves behind two sisters:  Joy McElroy of Mansfield, Texas and Lily Verle Miller (David) of Edmond, as well as many nieces and nephews.

    Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday July 23, 2013 at Church of the Servant Chapel in Oklahoma City.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Salvation Army or the Diabetes Foundation.  

    Services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Edmond.
