The Edmond Sun
Norma Treice (Bridgman) Craven, 76, finished the race and went home to be with her Lord on March 25, 2013, after a courageous fight with liver cancer.
Norma was born March 23, 1937 in Antlers, Okla. to Lawrence “Boss” and Opal Bridgman, and spent most of her youth with her brother Charles David and sister Jania in Greenville, Calif. Norma married Tom Craven on June 2, 1957 in Reno, Nev., and spent the next 55 wonderful years happily married and raising her family. She spent 30 years working for several different dentists: Dr. Schaefer in Reno, Dr. Peter Adams in California, Dr. Woody Cohlmia in Oklahoma City, and Dr. Michael Forth in Edmond before she retired.
Norma’s outgoing, caring and giving nature led her to spend much of her retirement as a loving caretaker for both Tom’s mother, Pearl, her own beloved mother, Opal, and her sister Jania’s husband Jim, in their last years. She was always happy and full of the joy of each day.
Norma gave her life, love and total dedication to God and her family. She had the gift of really being able to listen and make everyone she met feel amazingly special. Whether you spent a minute or an hour with Norma you were struck by her genuineness and true love of life. She had an incredible ease in conversation, a beautiful laugh and the ability of finding the good in everyone. Her family and friends were truly blessed by the unconditional love she so freely gave them her entire life.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents and brother Charles David.
Norma is survived by her devoted husband Tom; and their three children: son and daughter-in-law, Drs. Tom and Perri Craven of Tulsa; daughter and son-in-law Sandy and Mike Cook of Edmond, and daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Aaron London also of Edmond; her beloved grandchildren, Conley and Bridge Craven of Tulsa, Cody and Taylor Cook, and Anna and Drew London of Edmond. She is also survived by her best friend and sister Jania Anderson of Edmond and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
