Frank O. Hamilton

EDMOND —     Frank O Hamilton, 97, of Edmond, Okla., passed away April 24, 2013. He was born July 5, 1915 in Meade, Kan. to Joseph and Gretchen Hamilton.

Frank graduated from Harding High School, and attended Oklahoma University where he was president of the freshman class, president of his Sigma Nu fraternity, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He graduated with a law degree and went into private practice for a year, but in 1940 anticipating the upcoming war, he switched from reserve status to become an active duty Army officer. He served in World War II as a Captain in the Field Artillery where he received the Bronze Star for his actions during the Battle of the Bulge.

After the war Hamilton was stationed in Washington D.C. but soon returned to Germany as a Judge Advocate General officer assigned to prosecute German civilian officials who were responsible for the executions of captured American Airmen. While living in Stuttgart, Hamilton met and married Dorothy Randall who was serving as a U.S. Army Hostess. Their daughter JoAnne was born in 1952.

The family was reassigned to Washington D.C. where Hamilton worked at the Justice Department and later the Pentagon. Their son Howard was born in 1954. Another reassignment led to living three years at Ft. Amador in the Panama Canal Zone after which Hamilton retired from the Army as a Lt. Col. and the family moved to Oklahoma City. There, Hamilton worked for Cities Service Gas Company as a lawyer in their legal department until he retired in 1977.

After Dorothy Hamilton passed away in 1975, Hamilton married Ermagene Lochart in 1976 and they spent their retirement years together vacationing in Mexico and Colorado, until Ermagene died in 1994.

In 1996, Frank married Mary Jane Kessler a girl who had lived down the street on 34th street when Frank was in high school. Mary Jane passed away in 2008.

In addition to his three wonderful wives,

Frank was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Hobart and Joe Hamilton.

Frank is survived by his daughter JoAnne Schneider, son Howard Hamilton, brother Robert Hamilton; sister Margaret Crisp and three grandsons John, Robert and Jason Schneider.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of Crawford Family Funeral Home, Edmond.
