Sixta Muñoz Martinez

EDMOND —     Sixta Muñoz Martinez was born March 28, 1936 and was carried to her eternal home on April 26, 2013. Originally from Huichapan, Hidalgo, Mexico, she immigrated to Mexico City at a young age with her mother. When she was 24 years old she married Victor Vazquez Rojas, of Xonacatlan, Toluca, Mexico. Together they had eight children; one child, Carlitos, passed away at six months of age. Those that survived her were taught about life by her example; that life is based on seeking God and doing his will, and helping your fellow man, above all those in need. This was the reason for her restlessness to know places, people, and nature.

In 1991, she confessed her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. This conviction led her to preach the word of God with much enthusiasm to those around her. In 1996 she was widowed, and her love for the work of God, the church, and those who do not know Christ became clearer. In 1997, God took her to various states in Mexico on short mission trips. A few years later, God took her to different countries for short periods of time, sharing the gospel in Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama, and Nicaragua, which brought her much joy and satisfaction to the end of her days.

She is survived by seven children, who are eternally grateful to God for her life, which was instrumental in them becoming who they are today, men and women who seek to do God’s will. Three live in Oklahoma, two in Toluca, Mexico, one in Mexico City, and one in the mountains of Chihuahua. Her 16 grandchildren also remember her with much love and the joy that she had for living life that was so contagious to everyone around her, even in the middle of her illness above all of her family.

Funeral services were at noon Monday, April 29, 2013 at Crawford Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Whisler Cemetery, Edmond.
