Virgil LeRoy Shaw

EDMOND —     Virgil LeRoy “Bud” Shaw, 79, of Erie, Kan. died Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the Prairie Mission Retirement Village at St. Paul, Kan. He was born February 16, 1932 in Lakin, Kan., the son of Marie and James Simonson and Mildred and Virgil A. Shaw.

    He married his high school sweetheart, Norma Jean Brasier, on February 21, 1953 and spent four years in the U.S. Army Airborne. He worked for 20 years as vice-president of David’s retail store in Wichita, and later worked in advertising and as a truck driver.

    He enjoyed hunting and fishing and shooting competitions. He was the Kansas state skeet shooting champion in the 1970’s.

    Virgil was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings James Shaw and Helen Cosby.

    He and his wife were blessed with two sons, Virgil Alan Shaw of Carthage, Mo. and his wife Myra and their son Darrell, and  William Lowell Shaw of Edmond, Okla., his wife Patricia and their sons William Anderson Shaw and Hayden Lee Shaw.  Also surviving are dear relatives Chet Brown and Ginger Wolken of Erie, Kan.

    Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at the Federated Church in Erie, Kan. Interment will follow in East Hill Cemetery with military honors conducted by George L. Hendricks Post No. 102 America Legion of Erie.

    Memorials are suggested to the Federated Church or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
