Eva Medina

EDMOND —     Eva Medina, 77, passed from this life into the next during the early hours of Saturday, November 2, 2013. She was born October 23, 1936 in Morelos, Coahuila Mexico and now lives on in the presence of angels and her Savior, Jesus Christ.

    Eva had an unmistakable Audrey Hepburn-style. She first moved to the United States in her 20’s from Mexico and taught herself to speak English by watching television shows like ‘All My Children.’  She was not a person who made excuses as to why something couldn’t be done and obstacles, to her, were simply opportunities to hurdle. Her dedication to work included 25 years of service to Kerr McGee Corporation and many years as a bilingual teacher’s assistant for Oklahoma City Public Schools and Our Spot Head Start. Her love for these children was evident, but even more than these students was Eva’s dedication and sacrificial love to her own children.

    Those who knew Eva would agree that she often vocalized her thoughts and opinions. She was not afraid to speak up for the things she believed in and her ‘can do’ spirit kept her moving forward. Eva wanted things done right. It was part of her evolving style and passion for things done well. She took pride in her work and plans.

    She mastered her passion and love for cross-stitching and won awards for several of her pieces. Eva also carried passion into her skills in the kitchen. Family, friends, and coworkers enjoyed the flavors of her cooking through the years. She loved taking care of the flowers in her yard, especially the hibiscus, which bloomed large and brilliant each summer.

    She loved to dance and most recently enjoyed taking a twirl or two in the kitchen while listening to Luis Miguel or Pepe Aguilar. Now, she continues dancing in heaven.

    Eva is survived by her daughters Migdalia and Veronica; her son Ricardo and his wife Tiffany, and her grandchildren, Giselle, Keziah, and Lance Ridgway. Her brothers and sisters include Marina Alvarado, Jose Bermea, Ruperto Bermea, ABlardo Bermea, Simon Bermea, Raquel Sosa, and Juan Bermea.

    A memorial service celebrating Eva’s life will be 10 a.m. Wednesday November 6, at the Crawford Family Funeral Service Chapel with a reception to follow. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at

    In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to honor Eva by supporting Pequeno Refugio, an orphanage caring for children removed from abuse and neglect in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala.
