Faye R. Jones, 74, of Edmond, Okla., passed away September 3, 2012 in Edmond. Faye was born October 29, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Melva Jean Taylor.
She graduated from Hughes High School in Cincinnati. In the late 1960’s, Faye worked as a hostess for Holiday Inn and as a youth bowling instructor at Edmond Lanes. She played a large role in organizing and building Oklahoma’s first bowling float which ran in the Edmond parade and won first place. She also worked for two years at the Sam’s Wholesale Club, then as an administrative assistant for the Kickingbird Golf Course for 26 years. She was a past member of the Kickingbird Women’s Golf Association. Faye eventually became the owner and operator of Town & Country Tax Service from 1975-2009. In 1981, she was honored as Edmond’s Outstanding Employee of the Year.
Faye also enjoyed many things including wild birds, rabbits, flowers, being at home with her family and reading.
Faye is survived by her husband Alfred “Al” Jones of the home; daughters Shelby Jones and Kevin Schwartz, Sheila Aaron and husband Bryan, Diana Freeman and husband Michael; brother Billy Taylor; special cousins Mary Ann, Don and Al Smith; grandchildren Michael Freeman, Jr., Ashley Stringer, Tyson and Aaron Jacobs, Danny and Kenny Davis and Zachary Aaron; and great grandchildren Ashlyn Stringer, Kolten, Grayson and Carly Freeman, Taryn and Teagan Jacobs.
She was preceded in death by her mother, son Alan Jones and daughter Alison Jones.
Funeral services for Faye were 1 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2012 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond.
