Forrest W. Yates

EDMOND — Forrest W. Yates, Jr., 83, formerly of Edmond, Okla., was born March 4, 1930 at Beaver, Okla., the son of Forrest W., Sr. and Odessa Cates Yates. He died August 1, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in El Reno, Okla.

Forest graduated from Beaver High School in 1948 and from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva in 1952. He married Ellen Schieber on March 4, 1965; they made their home in Edmond for 26 years.

Forrest was an auditor with the Oklahoma Tax Commission for 30 years. After his retirement they returned to the family farm in Beaver, and began traveling to several countries. They moved to El Reno in 2000, where they were members of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Forrest is survived by his wife, Ellen of the home; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Irene and Arthur Wiedemann of El Reno and Shirley Wiedemann, also of El Reno, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday August 5, 2013 at Benson Memorial Chapel. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home, El Reno.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals, P. O. Box 879, El Reno, OK 73036 or a favorite charity.
