Nancy Jo Matlock

EDMOND —     Nancy Jo Matlock, 77, of Edmond, Okla., unexpectedly went to be with her husband J.C. Matlock, her parents L.A. and Mary Joyce, and great-granddaughter Savannah Marie Willcox on March 21, 2013.

    Nancy leaves to mourn one sister Linda Laughlin and her husband King of Dallas, Texas; four daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Randy Baty, Jill and Randy Wheeler, Jayne and Ralph Willcox, Jackie and Pete Reining, and one son Jason Matlock all of Edmond. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Natasha Tippett Sodowosky and husband Jason, Jeff Baty and wife Stacey, Vince Willcox and wife Joanna, Shane Wheeler, Krystal Willcox Hays and husband Tanner, Becky Reining Maze, Blake Willcox and wife Caroline, Robert Reining, Jake Matlock, Jaycee Matlock, Patrick Matlock; 11

great-grandchildren, Cornell, Colyn, and Chloe Sodowsky, Kaitlyn Baty, Reese and Parker Willcox, Lorelai Hays, Ashton and Easton Maze, Elijah and Everett Willcox, and her beloved dogs Killer and Pippi.

    Nancy, known as “Nanny” to her family, was born April 6, 1935, in Greenwood, Ark. At a young age she moved to Ft. Smith, Ark., where she graduated high school. She went on to cheer for Westark Junior College where she met the love of her life J.C. Matlock. They were married on June 4, 1954.

    Nancy was blessed to be able to do what she loved most during her life which was spending time traveling with her husband, and being actively involved with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s lives. Family was Nancy’s passion and delight, along with reading, spending time in the outdoors, and tending to her flowers. She loved the sun and she and J.C. would spend their winters in Palm Springs, Calif., before his passing. Nancy was a kind and compassionate woman who always placed others needs before her own, no matter if it were for family, friends, or strangers.

    Services celebrating Nancy’s life will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 27 at Crawford Family Funeral Service, 610 NW 178th in Edmond.
