EDMOND —
Clinton E. Hendricks, 89, of Edmond, Okla., passed away September 28, 2012. He was born May 16, 1923 in Shreveport, La., to William Mack and Emma Hendricks, who preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by his wife Faustina Roberts Hendricks, son Edward Hendricks, brother-in-law George Roberts and wife Helen, brother-in-law Merrill Roberts and wife Clemma, brother-in-law Raymond (Snookie) Roberts and wife Sybil, sister-in-law Agnes Stinson and husband Peel, brother-in-law Charles Alexander, and granddaughters Sonya Buck and Ambria Galbraith.
He is survived by his sister-in-law Charline Alexander of Oklahoma City; daughter Aloycha de La Roche of Las Vegas, Nev., and her children Lesa Tilley, Jerri Kaner, John Rice, Melissa Rice-Graham, and Karen Rice; daughter Elizabeth Buck and husband Jim of Edmond, and their children Jim Buck and Tim Buck; son Billy Hendricks of Louisiana; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and friends from around the country.
He graduated from high school in 1942 and served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. While taking some advanced training at Southwestern in Weatherford, Okla., he met Faustina Roberts and they were married in 1943. They celebrated 64 wonderful years together on February 26, 2007. They lived in Shreveport, La. for 22 plus years, then Cleburne, Texas for 35 years before moving to Edmond. After his military career he worked for the United States Post Office for 20 years before retiring and going into the heat and air conditioning business, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He was a stern but loving father to his four children and several foster children. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in December, 1943 and was a faithful servant to him the rest of his life. He was a member of the Sooner Road Church of God in Midwest City, Okla., and always looked forward to going to church to fellowship with his church family. After he and Faustina could no longer drive, he went as often as he could but if he couldn’t get to his church he enjoyed going to church with Elizabeth and Jim. He dearly loved and was loved by his family, friends, and friends in Christ.
Clinton enjoyed watching professional wrestling. When wrestling was on TV, he and Faustina had a standing date to watch it together and always called it their night out. They also spent a lot of time, especially in their golden years, playing dominoes and checkers together and with anyone who wanted to play. The “Domino Hall” as it was known was very seldom closed. He always enjoyed having his grandchildren and great-grandchildren drop by to play a game with him or just to visit and catch up on what was going on in their lives. He will be greatly missed.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Oakwood Cemetery, Oakwood, Okla. Services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home.
