Robert Stanford Mairs

EDMOND — Robert Stanford Mairs, 82, of Edmond, Okla., passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 18, 2014. Robert was born on August 4, 1931 to Chester and Verna Mairs in Newton, Kan.

He graduated from Eldorado High School in 1949. Robert graduated from Washburn University in 1953, where he was a member of Phi Delt Theta Fraternity. He also attended Washburn Law School.

Robert worked for the Oklahoma State Employment Commission as a supervising Interviewer for many years. Robert then owned and operated a janitorial business until his retirement. He loved OU football, and watching Thunder basketball games. His sharp wit and smile will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his wives Marylin Evan Mairs and Marge Hensley Mairs.

He is survived by his son Mike and wife Connie of Edmond and daughter Michelle Daniels also of Edmond. Robert is also survived by stepson Gerald Martin of Moore as well as nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services with a cremation to follow will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2014 at Smith Memorial Chapel, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
