Carol Thomas McClintock

EDMOND —     Carol Thomas McClintock, 67, was born the day before Easter, April 20, 1946 in Shawnee, Okla. to Charles William and Melva Jean (Waldrop) Thomas. On Saturday, March 22, 2014 her Lord called Carol home to join her parents.

Carol married Donald Frank McClintock on March 2, 1968 in Shawnee. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Don, of Oklahoma City; her daughter, Dr. Rachel McClintock Franklin and her husband Benjamin of Oklahoma City; her son, Matthew Thomas McClintock and his wife Megan of Evergreen, Colo.; her grandchildren, Lauren and Ashten McClintock, also of Evergreen, and Emma and Jonathan Franklin of Oklahoma City; her sisters, Bobbie Thomas Shell of Shawnee, Okla. and Susan Thomas Snyder and her husband Dr. H. Thomas Snyder of Enid, Okla. She is also survived by many loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Carol earned a Bachelor of Arts from Oklahoma Baptist University and a Master of Liberal Studies from the University of Oklahoma. During her 28-year tenure she taught social studies, history, and English in the Shawnee Public Schools, retiring in 2006. In the “third act” of her life Carol helped medical students become great doctors, serving as a standardized patient for the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.

Carol was an avid student of history and genealogy and she was very proud of her memberships in the Daughters of the American Revolution, The Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and Texas First Families.

She and Don met during Carol’s college years and enjoyed acting in community theater during earlier years of their marriage. Together they patronized the arts in Oklahoma City in more recent years. She loved gardening with her rescued Golden Retrievers, Bailey and Annie. But Carol cherished time with her grandchildren most of all.

The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27 at Vondel Smith Mortuary North.

A resurrection memorial service will be 1 p.m.  Friday at Memorial Road Church of Christ, 2221 E. Memorial Road. The family specifically requests that attendees wear something bright, appropriate for an Easter celebration service.

The family requests that any memorial gifts be made in Carol’s honor to Shepherd’s Hill International, Give a Goat program, PO Box 11000, Oklahoma City, OK 73136-1100.
