EDMOND — Albert  D. “Pappy” Brooks passed away at his Edmond, Okla. home on Thursday, September 24, 2013 with his family by his side. He was born on August 1, 1942 in Marietta, Ga., to Ralph and Dorothy (Edmonds) Brooks.

Pappy served proudly in the U.S. Coast Guard, and later went to serve as a law enforcement officer in Oakland, Calif. He retired as chief of police in central California. Upon retirement, Pappy became a rancher and showed cutting horses. He met the love of his life, Sandy, on a blind date and they shared many wonderful years together. Pappy was an honorable, honest man that loved the outdoors.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Pappy is survived by his wife Sandy; daughter Debbie Metesana and husband David; son Michael Brooks and wife Shawna; daughter Kimberley Hanmer, as well as six grandchildren, Vincent, Michelle, Maria, Joey, Debiann and Michael.

A memorial service for Pappy will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 28, at the Crawford Family Funeral Service Chapel, Edmond. Memorial donations in honor of Pappy may be made to the American Heart Association. To read a full life story, please visit
