EDMOND —
John Allen Wehr, 71, of Edmond, Okla., passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012. He was born December 16, 1941, in Orlando, Okla. to Francis and Ruth Webb Wehr.
John graduated from Orlando High School in 1960 and shortly thereafter joined the Army National Guard.
In the spring of 1961, he went to work for Safeway grocery store, later known as Homeland, until he retired in 1996. After he retired he went to work at LaRue’s Automotive in Edmond, owned by Bill and Connie LaRue. There he worked with nephews Steve and Robert LaRue.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Myrna Lemon, and a brother Dwight Wehr.
Survivors include two daughters, Tori and her husband Kevin Mote of May, Texas and Johna and Marty Riley of Bixby Okla. John was blessed with six grandchildren: Kelton, Sarah, and Wyatt Mote and Tarren, Jaylen, and Jordan Riley. He is also survived by Vicki Ellis Wehr of Moore, Okla., two sisters Connie and her husband Bill LaRue of Edmond and Elaine Thedford of Enid, Okla., two brothers Dale and Joe Wehr of Perry, and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
John enjoyed each day, loved his family and friends unconditionally, and will be remembered with a smile on his face and a whistle on his lips.
Graveside funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Morris Heights Cemetery in Orlando, Okla. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie, Okla.
