EDMOND —
David Frank Williams, 91, of Edmond Okla., went to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 3, 2013. He was born October 28, 1921, in Konawa, Okla., the son of John Thomas and Emma Williams.
After his graduation from Vamoosa High School, he enlisted in the United States Army in April 1942. A decorated World War II veteran, David was assigned to military intelligence and communications in both North Africa and Italy before receiving an honorable discharge for his service in December 1945. Following his military service, David lived and worked in the Oklahoma City metro area. In 1947 he began a career as a telephone installer for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, a career which lasted until he retired in January, 1984.
In 1952 he married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Lucas. They lived together in Edmond, and had two children, Karen Gail and David Russell.
David was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his family, spoiling his grandchildren, and enjoyed a good conversation and a cup of coffee with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Williams and Emma (Black) Williams; his wife, Mary Ellen Williams; and two sisters, Josie Williams and Velma (Williams) Brewer.
David is survived by his children, Karen Winham and her husband John of Yukon, Okla., and David Williams and his wife Lorna of Edmond; grandchildren Teranne Williams of Oklahoma City, Kyle Williams and Mackenzie Williams, both of Edmond. He is also survived by two sisters, Della Mae Kraft of Worland, Wyo., and Ruby Kiser of Jet, Okla., and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Edmond First Baptist Church Children’s Ministry.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Baggerley Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery. Services entrusted to the care of Baggerley Funeral Home of Edmond.
