Bert England

EDMOND —     Bert England, 88, of Edmond, Okla. went to be with the Lord February 8, 2012 at his home in Edmond. He was born May 13, 1923, to Matthew and Parlee Jackson England in Sallisaw, Okla.

    Bert was Baptist by faith, taught Sunday school, drove church buses, helped build two churches, and served as a deacon for 45 years. He served his country in World War II in the states and overseas. He also worked as a rancher and a carpenter.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Carol Smithson of Sallisaw; son-in-law Ron Henry of Lone Grove, Okla., brother Arvil England and sister, Patsy England of Sallisaw.

    He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elma DuBuc England; four daughters, Barbara Henry of Lone Grove, Betty Baker and husband Larry of Tuttle, Okla., Cheryl Alexander and husband Greg of Norman, Okla. and Gail Johnson and husband Robert of Edmond; six grandsons, three granddaughters, eight great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters, Opal Tucker of Sallisaw, Wanice Ball of Marble City, Okla., Darlene Ragain of Ft. Smith, Ark. and Jean Swails of Choctaw, Okla.; two brothers Maynard England of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Wayne England of Midwest City, Okla., and several nieces and nephews.

    Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Agents Chapel under the direction of Agents Funeral Home, Sallisaw, Okla.
