EDMOND —
Dale Owen Laubach, 81, of Edmond, Okla., passed away November 24, 2012 in Oklahoma City. He was born March 18, 1931 in Okeene, Okla. to Herman and Elma (Vogt) Laubach. He graduated from Okeene High School where he was a member of the FFA and played on the football team. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1953 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Agronomy.
Dale married his wife Geraldine while in college. He served his country in the U.S. Army and retired from the Oklahoma Army National Guard as a Brigadier General after 30 years of service.
Dale also worked for the Department of Agriculture while in the Guard and retired after 32 years of service in January 1, 1988 as the director of the Plant Industry Division. He had been with the Department of Agriculture since 1955 with the exception of a two year leave of absence when he served as Secretary for the Commissioners of the Land Office for the State of Oklahoma. During his service with the Department of Agriculture, Dale had been active with several organizations including Southern Feed, Fertilizer and Pesticide Control Officials, president from 1968-1969; Oklahoma Feed Manufacturers Association, Secretary from 1968-1972; Commissioners of the Land Office, State of Oklahoma, secretary 1973-1974; Capital Credit Union, Board of Directors; Oklahoma Crop Improve-ment Associa-tion, Stillwater, Board of Directors; Oklahoma Plant Food Educational Society, Ex-officio member; Boy Scouts of America, Cub Master and Assistant District Commissioner to the Last Frontier Council; American Feed Control Officials; Agronomy Club, OSU; and Henderson Hills Baptist Church in Edmond.
Also during this time he served as President for the National Guard Association of Oklahoma, 1968-1969. He is a life member of 45th Infantry Division Association; a retired life member of the State of Oklahoma National Guard Association. After retirement Dale joined the L and B club and volunteered at Mercy Hospital.
Dale is survived by his wife Jerrie of the home; daughter, Nancy Laubach of Edmond, sons Rick Laubach of Edmond, and Steven and his wife Leann Laubach of Edmond; and grandchildren, Andrew and Karen.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son Tom, and brother Glenn.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday November 29, 2012 at Gracelawn Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Edmond..
