EDMOND — Holy moley, the moveon.org party, otherwise known as the Democrat Party, is in full panic mode. Liberals everywhere are running down the street, hair afire, waving their arms and screaming the sky is falling. All as a result of Gov. Sarah Palin being selected as the GOP vice presidential nominee. So the Main Stream Media — a rabidly far left liberal propaganda tool — have accused her of everything from being an unfit mother to being unfit to be president and unabashedly attacking and smearing Palin’s children.
Sen. Barack Obama, or as the MSM has ordained him, The One for Whom WE Have Been Waiting, used a “lipstick on a pig” phrase in a recent speech. Most normal people view this as an overtly sexist comment clearly intended to slime Palin. Now the liberal left are aghast with faux indignation that their icon is being misunderstood by conservatives and are averring that it was an innocent phrase, perhaps a malapropism, or at worse a verbal gaffe.
Liberals swear that they have heard this phrase hundreds of times and it is a common comment. I wonder how many times Obama has used this particular phrase. Ever? Barack “Apollo” Obama is a silver-tongued, glib, accomplished orator that mesmerizes his audiences to the point of fainting. His speeches are well prepared and delivered with precise inflection and perfect timbre. If anyone sincerely believes that Obama didn’t mean to disparage Palin I have some beach-front property down the street I’ll let you have a special deal on.
Obama is touting “change” and “hope” yet has not provided anything different than the usual socialist promises involving higher taxes and unbridled transfer payments. He promises tax cuts for 95 percent of workers but inasmuch as 40 percent don’t pay any income tax now how is he going to provide them with a “cut”? His voting record in his long tenure in Congress belies his tax cut promises. Ninety-four times he voted against tax cuts and/or for increases.
He rants on about the entrenched longtime politicians on lobbyist pay rolls and grabbing earmarks. Not a bad sound bite, but I just described his VP nominee! How many earmarks has Obama “collected” in his long term as a senator? Hint: You’ll need a lot of zeros in the amount.
He, like the rest of the moveon.org clique, have some vague fantasy about alternative fuels. The ethanol fiasco is still reaping negative benefits: Lower gas mileage, excessive engine wear, horrendous pollution, higher food costs and higher taxes to support massive subsidies.
Wind is another highly exaggerated energy source that is palatable for small power requirements but by no stretch of the imagination as a major power source. How many acres of windmills are necessary to produce the same power as a medium sized electric plant using coal and at what cost? Ironically, the Kennedys — Robert Jr. and Ted — are adamantly against any windmills. It’s a NIMBY thing. The United States, as the rest of the producing countries of the world, has a petroleum-based economy. We are at the mercy of foreign dictators to keep us supplied with oil.
We have more than a trillion barrels of oil in our ground yet we can’t pump it and use it. The only excuse the left can come up with is the lie about the “68 million acres.” Rep. Nancy Pelosi sent a crystal clear message to the citizens when she refused to allow any debate on an energy policy when she turned off the lights and shut down the People’s House. It’s almost as if she has a financial reason to keep oil prices high.
Obama’s commander-in-chief proposals are frightening. He is willing sit down with representatives from governments hostile to the United States such as Iran, Syria, Korea and San Francisco, but won’t sit down with McCain in town hall meetings. He has promised massive cuts in defense systems that will leave us extremely venerable to our enemies and won’t seek advice from military leaders.
I’m just a bitter person clinging to my guns and religion in flyover country. Perhaps one of the elite that bask in the glow of the community organizer will provide a cogent, lucid, comprehensive rendition of what exactly the “change” and “hope” mythomania will do for me?
We live in interesting times.

Oklahoma should phase out its personal income tax and replace it with nothing. No property tax increases. No sales tax increases. Nothing.

LETTER: Supporter calls Duncan caring, interactive
To the Editor:
In my 43-year career as a professor at the University of Central Oklahoma I wrote many a letter of recommendation for deserving students for jobs, graduate and professional schools and scholarships. Those letters are read by busy people who have important decisions to contemplate and my belief is they ought to be brief and on point. This is such a letter. -
LETTER: Supporter applauds Duncan’s persistent dedication
To the Editor:
I am writing this letter to support and endorse the re-election of Kathleen Duncan to the Edmond Board of Education next Tuesday. I’ve been an Edmond resident for the past 20 years, and because I don’t live in District 2, I cannot cast my vote for Duncan, but I do pay a considerable amount in taxes to the Edmond Public School District. -
LETTER: Duncan lends watchful eye to school district
To the Editor:
Kathleen Duncan serves tirelessly in her capacity as an Edmond Board of Education member. A former teacher, school counselor and Oklahoma County Assistant District Attorney, she has the time to go into our schools and hear the needs of teachers, students and staff. When she hears of needs, she has the time and experience to share those issues with the appropriate administrators for investigation and resolution. -
