Congrats to the YMCA

The Edmond YMCA is to be congratulated on its recent fundraising success. Its annual Strong Kids campaign stretched above its $100,000 goal to bring in a total of $105,000.

The YMCA provides an important component in our community life and we’re thrilled to see it achieve success in this area. These funds will help the program continue to grow as well as provide scholarships for memberships.

Director Mike Roark provides strong, steady leadership that allows the organization to support many local families in their quest for better physical fitness and community fellowship. His mission has been to build relationships in the community in order to share why the YMCA’s program is so important.

Also to be congratulated are the many volunteers who made the fundraising drive successful for the program.

It takes a strong family to build a stronger community and the YMCA is doing its part.

We hope this success, in turn, will lead to progress in growing the program into northwest Edmond, which has been a long-term dream of the YMCA. A physical fitness center and swimming pool is still on the community’s wish list to complete the MAC in Mitch Park, which houses the community’s Edmond Senior Center and recreational offices and programming.

It’s a partnership still worth pursuing by both the City of Edmond and the YMCA.
