Ratcliffe receives softball scholarship
Rachel Ratcliffe, a senior at Edmond North High School, recently attended Scholarship Day at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan. As a result she received a softball scholarship.
She is the daughter of Steve and Glenda Ratcliffe. Her sister Christine is a student at Oklahoma State University.
Students invited to study abroad this summer
If you’re in high school or about to graduate, there’s still time to apply for a summer study abroad program or “gap year” experience.
AFS has been sending high school students abroad for 60 years. AFS can provide advice or connect individuals with students who have just returned. Financial aid still is available.

White takes top teen award
Jade White, a freshman at Edmond Memorial High School, attended the Nuvo Dance Convention in Mobile, Ala., last month.
Out of more than 750 dancers, Jade was awarded top teen award and was chosen as the “Break-out-Artist” of the convention, winning $750 in scholarships.
Jade dances with Senior Company at Kim Massey Dance Productions in Edmond and is a member of the Freshman Pom Squad at Edmond Memorial.
Teachers invited to take the LEAD, win cash
The Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants announced a call for entries for a lesson plan competition for accounting and business educators at Oklahoma schools.
The OSCPA Lessons Enhancing Accounting Development Contest will award two cash prizes to the winning teachers and their schools.
The contest is open to educators teaching related subjects to students in grades nine through 12 on a continuous and regular basis at an accredited Oklahoma school. Qualifying subjects include business, accounting, personal finance, finance, personal economics, economics and business math.
Submissions must be received by June 30, 2008, and winners will be announced on or around July 31, 2008.
