EDMOND Edmond School Board OKs renewal of Odyssey Ware-Credit Recovery Software

Renewal of 101 licenses for Odyssey Ware was passed by the Edmond Board of Education during its July 1 meeting. The software provides the opportunity for students at all three high schools and at Boulevard Academy to recover credits in order to graduate from high school.

The software has been used to provide services to homebound students and students who have been suspended from school for extensive time periods.

Funding for the renewal will come from Technology Bond funds, 50 percent, and the remainder of the cost will be shared equally by the three high schools and special education. The total cost of the renewal is $58,075.

Wynn Construction receives Memorial High School auditorium contract

Edmond School Board awarded Wynn Construction the Memorial High School auditorium bid. The bid of $4.93 million included the base bid only and was the lowest bid.

Bret Towne, director of operations, said due to this project going over budget, the district, architect and contractor will work together to value engineer savings, which would come back to the board of education as a deduct change order.

Towne said estimated savings on a deduct change order would be between $300,000 to $500,000, with the overall project funded by a combination of residual bond funds, MAPS and bond fund interest.

Edmond schools projected fund balances in the black

Edmond School District Chief Financial Officer David Fraser reported the Estimated General Fund Balance as of June 30 was $7.6 million.

The Building Fund had an estimated fund balance of $3.1 million. The Child Nutrition Fund had a fund balance of $1.9 million.

The three fund balances came to $12.6 million.

“Going into the FY 2008-09 we will bring a healthy balance,” said Superintendent David Goin.
