The Deer Creek Board of Education announced a need for substitute teachers and bus drivers. Interested applicants should go to the administration office at 206th and MacArthur to fill out an application, or download an application at www.deercreekschools.org under the tab “Employment.”
“I would like to see us get a minimum of 10 additional subs since we haven’t hit that time of the year yet when we need a lot of additional subs,” said superintendent Becky Wilkinson.
Personnel director Lenis DeRieux said they would like to have as many substitute teachers as possible signed up on the substitute list.
Required items for substitute teachers include: an application, two forms of I.D. and $25 for a background check. Individuals who sub for 25 days will receive the $25 background fee at the end of the school year.
Attendance at the next substitute meeting at 3 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Middle School library is also required.
Certified pay for substitutes is $70 a day and non-certified pay is $60 a day.
“We have four openings at this time for bus drivers,” DeRieux said. “At this time we have support staff and teachers who are certified to drive.”
Required items for bus driving include an application, two forms of identification, and a CDL. Deer Creek provides training to acquire a CDL if needed.
Beginning pay for bus drivers is $12 an hour which increases in yearly increments based on the number of years of experience.
