Special to The Sun

EDMOND — Oklahoma Christian University invites the community to celebrate the holiday season with its sixth-annual Winter Wonderland Week, beginning with the Lighting of the Commons on Dec. 3.

The free family event includes pictures with Santa, live music and horse-drawn carriage rides from 6-8 p.m. near the Lawson Commons pavilion.

The holiday theme will continue Dec. 5 with Oklahoma Christian’s 37th-annual gift to the community, “Cocoa and Carols,” at 7 p.m. in Hardeman Auditorium. This free performance features a masterwork for chorus and orchestra, followed by a selection of beloved holiday music. Hot cocoa and cider will be served during intermission.

Later that evening, OC’s women’s basketball team will hold its third annual Dunks for Diapers, a diaper drive for Lilyfield Christian Adoption and Foster Care. Anyone bringing diapers, wipes or new baby items for babies ages 0-24 months will gain free admission to the 7 p.m. game. Lilyfield’s Executive Director Holly Towers is an OC alumna who has visited campus a number of times to champion foster care and adoption.

Finally, Oklahoma Christian’s fifth-annual Holiday Hustle 5K run will be Dec. 7 at 9 a.m. A kids’ run will begin a 9:50 a.m. Register and pay for either run, which features a USA Track and Field-certified course, at www.oc.edu/holidayhustle or on the day of the race from 7-8:30 a.m.

Prize money will be awarded to the top finishers, and a pancake breakfast will be served following the race at 9:30 a.m.
