Ida Freeman students earn state chess honors

EDMOND — Ida Freeman Elementary Chess team took 67 players to the State Chess Championship at Will Rogers High School in Tulsa and brought back 32 medals and the State Championship in K-4 with Kedrick Gregory taking Individual State Champion in K-4 and a third place for K-6.

Chess Club sponsors and players participating at the State Chess Championship included Chess Club sponsors David Nichols and Siomara Davis and Principal Brenda McDonald and students Kedrick Gregory, Paden Little, Ashton Pavo, Jim Huang, Kolbie Groat, James Duerson and Kristopher Blue. The team was recognized by the Board of Education at its April meeting.
