Camp Fire offers winter break camp

The Edmond Sun

EDMOND — Camp Fire Heart of Oklahoma Council is offering its second season of “G.O.T.C.H.A.” (Great Outdoor Teaching Classroom Holiday Adventure). Enrollment for the winter break session is now open.

With a theme of “Crime Scene Investigation,” G.O.T.C.H.A. is designed to give parents and students a creative alternative to school breaks. The sessions are designed to not only get children outdoors, but to continue the educational process through the holiday breaks. The activities will engage young people in an active lifestyle while providing educational curriculum, such as science and the environment.

At “G.O.T.C.H.A.” CSI: Camp DaKaNi campers will investigate a “crime scene” where an object has been stolen. Campers will analyze evidence such as DNA, fingerprints, tool markings, ransom notes and shoe prints at the crime scene to solve the case. Camp DaKaNi campers will develop their teamwork, critical thinking and problem solving skills as they have fun becoming honorary members of the Camp DaKaNi Bureau of Investigation. Campers will also get to participate in outdoor activities like fishing, canoeing and rock climbing.

The winter G.O.T.C.H.A. session will be Dec. 17-21; enrollment is under way now. G.O.T.C.H.A is $165 for each camper and before and after care is available for $75. The program is open to youth from kindergarten through eighth grade.
