Santa Fe works to raise troops’ spirits

EDMOND — Students at Santa Fe High School recently made a banner and sent it to an Oklahoma National Guard unit stationed in Afghanistan.

Members of Delta Company of the 279th Infantry, 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, stationed in Gardez, Afghanistan, including 1st Lt. Dan Slusarchuk, sixth from right, show off the banner.

Teachers said the school sent the banner to raise the spirits of the Oklahoma soldiers following the deaths of several state Guardsmen after their deployment.

Signs To Go donated the banner, designed for free by Acme T-shirts, and several Santa Fe teachers and students signed it and wrote messages to the troops, along with some Santa Fe T-shirts.
