EDMOND — Both Edmond and Deer Creek School districts are looking for child nutrition workers and bus drivers and in the case of Deer Creek, substitute teachers.

With most of the teaching positions filled, Edmond Public Schools is seeking to fill more than 20 positions in its child nutrition department and 11 positions in its transportation department after a number of retirements and promotions of staff members.

“Last May we said good-bye to a number of dedicated and well-regarded staff members who had decades of experience,” said Child Nutrition Director Dan Lindsey. “Our hope is to replace them with equally qualified individuals who love to be of service and love to be around children.”

The openings are at multiple sites and include both full-time and part-time positions. The district needs assistant managers, managers, delivery drivers and general kitchen help (prep, cooks, servers, cashiers).

“We want to be fully staffed by the start of school on Aug. 20,” Lindsey said.

Positions start at a salary of $9.35. Interested individuals can apply online by going to www.edmondschools.net and clicking on the child nutrition quick link. Persons without computer availability may go by the child nutrition office and use a computer on site at 125 N. State Street in Edmond.

For more information, contact the district child nutrition office at 340-2889.

“Currently, we have eight driver positions and two special needs monitor positions open,” said Associate Superintendent of General Administration Bret Towne. “At this time we have seven individuals completing the on-line driver training and licensing program. Upon completion, these individuals will begin advanced training and driving skills classes.”

Towne said at this time the district is still interviewing potential candidates, but would like to fill positions as soon as possible.

Deer Creek’s Personnel Director Lenis DeRieux said, “We are constantly looking at the numbers we need in each category of food service and bus drivers. These jobs as well as substitute teacher are a constant need for all school districts.”

DeRieux said starting pay for a bus driver with no experience is $12.15/hr. Starting pay for food service with no experience is $8.15/hr. A certified substitute earns $70 a day and a non-certified substitute earns $60 a day.
