EDMOND — Two General Education Development classes are going to be offered in Edmond with one orientation to make sure all students are tested and leveled prior to attending an Edmond GED class.

Oklahoma City Community College Adult Learning Center Coordinator Linda Dudek said anyone interested in pre-enrolling for GED classes in the Edmond area should call 682-7873 or 686-6222 prior to Jan. 22.

Students interested in pre-enrolling should not contact the Edmond Library or the Edmond Central Middle School, Dudek said.

In order to enroll in a GED class the student must attend an Edmond GED orientation at the Edmond Library from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Jan. 22.

“At this orientation, the student will be enrolled, tested and assigned a GED class at either Edmond Library or Edmond Central Middle School with instruction beginning on Jan. 24,” Dudek said. “This orientation is required to be in this class. The two classes both meet from 5:30-8 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday.”

All 16- and 17-year-old students need a release form prior to attending all GED classes. This release form must be signed and notarized by both the parent or guardian and by the school district in which the student now resides.

“This is a state of Oklahoma requirement,” Dudek said.

Forms are available in the high school counseling offices or from the OCCC Adult Learning Center.

“The GED test will be changing in one year and the test is going to be much more difficult and will also be done in its entity on a computer at a certified testing center; so we expect large enrollments in the upcoming year in all of our GED classes,” Dudek said.
