UCO International Pageant celebrates diversity

EDMOND — The University of Central Oklahoma will host its annual Mr. and Miss UCO International Pageant at 7 p.m. April 7 in Constitution Hall in the Nigh University Center on Central’s campus.

The pageant celebrates Central’s diverse international student population with representatives from 13 countries, decorated in their cultural dress.

The event is sponsored by the International Student Council, an organization that helps to involve international students in campus activities and provides support for them during their time at Central.

The overall winners are awarded a $1,000 scholarship, the first runners-up a $700 scholarship and the second runners-up a $400 scholarship.

The event is free with a UCO ID and $3 without. Seating is first-come, first-served.

This year’s 16 contestants, followed by their home country, are: Alota Che Alota of Cameroon, Juhyuk Do of South Korea, Prisca Gnamitche of Ivory Coast, Alina Gorina of Russia, Tran Huyen of Vietnam, Meity Kumalasari of Indonesia, Barbara Marinho Lacerda of Brazil, Tan Le of Vietnam, Oon Feng Lim of Malayasia, Blessing Ogunbanwo of Nigeria, Ani Sargsyan of Armenia, Sonam Sherpa of Nepal, Ben Soumahoro of Cote D’Ivoire, Annick Tchouambou of Cameroon, Adalaida Tembo of Zambia, Rajana Tuladhar of Nepal.
