Orvis Risner Elementary School in Edmond is commemorating 50 years of excellence with a Gala Celebration featuring food, entertainment and a live and silent auction from 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at the school at 2801 S. Rankin.
“We are one of the oldest elementary schools in Edmond; the community has simply grown up right around us,” said Principal Shana Perry. “Many of the leaders in this community are part of the alumni. We think it imperative to recognize the staying power of the school, showcase our current students and honor those who have had the opportunity to learn, lead and teach during the last 50 years.”
The event will feature a light buffet, student performances, a silent and live art auction of both professional and student art and tours of the building.
Tickets to the Gala are $10 per person and are available in the school’s main office or at the door the night of the event. The doors will open at 6:45 p.m.
“We would like to use the funds that we raise to pay for increased technology access for students and adding additional playground equipment,” Perry said. “Our goal is to make the event an annual fundraiser.”
News 9 anchor and reporter Kelly Ogle, a former Orvis Risner student, will be the emcee for the event. For more information, contact the school at 340-2984.
