Student association plans Saudi National Day events

Special to The Sun

EDMOND — The University of Central Oklahoma’s Saudi Student Association invites the community to Saudi National Day, noon to 2 p.m. Monday in UCO’s Nigh University Center third floor ballrooms.

The free event is open to the public and will include a lunch of traditional Arabic food for the first 300 attendees, Saudi singers, actors, fashion, a documentary about the country and prizes for guests.

“We’d like people to come and experience our culture,” said Fahad Althydi, president of the UCO Saudi Student Association.

More than 400 Saudi students call Central home, making them the single largest international student population at UCO. International students represent eight percent of the overall student enrollment at Central.

“It’s so simple to meet people from other cultures. Everyone is welcome,” Althydi added.

The event is sponsored by MidFirst Bank, Create 33, Gold’s Gym, Roma’s Gelato and Best Price Auto Sales.
