UCO Scholarship pageant to showcase international culture, diversity

EDMOND — Twelve University of Central Oklahoma international students will share their country’s cultures at the Mr. and Miss International UCO scholarship pageant at 7 p.m. Friday in Constitution Hall of UCO’s Nigh University Center.

The event will showcase the rich diversity of UCO’s international student body, with participants representing countries from across the world.

This year’s winners will replace Miss International UCO 2007, Illia Pant of Nepal, and Mr. International UCO 2007, Michael Aka Hermann of the Ivory Coast.

Originated as the vision of Ronald Paddack, former director of UCO’s international office, the pageant gives UCO’s international students the opportunity to compete for scholarship money.

First-place winners will receive scholarships of $750, with second-place winners receiving $500 and third-place winners receiving $250.

Tickets will be available at the door the night of the event for $5, or $3 with a valid UCO I.D.
