EDMOND — Oklahoma Christian University announced recently that Nathan Mellor has been named vice president for community engagement and chief of staff. The university also announced the addition of two advancement officers, Kent Allen and Jo Griffin.
Mellor, who is currently executive director of the Academy for Leadership & Liberty on the OC campus, will continue in that role, but will take on additional responsibilities for building meaningful relationships with community and church leaders throughout the world. Other responsibilities include developing and implementing OC’s communications and image strategies, representing the president’s office in developing effective church relations and assisting in developing and communicating strategic vision and plans.
Mellor joined Oklahoma Christian in 2006 and has served as an assistant professor of leadership in the university’s School of Business Administration.
He has a Bachelor of Arts degree and Master’s of Science Education from Harding University and the MDR from the Pepperdine School of Law and recently completed the doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology.
Allen joins Oklahoma Christian as an advancement officer and will be responsible for fundraising for the university in general with special attention to College of Biblical Studies, athletics and other areas.
Allen is an Oklahoma Christian alumnus and a former member of the OC Board of Trustees. He and his wife, Phyllis, have two sons, Kelly and Cory, who graduated from OC. They will be relocating to the Oklahoma City area in the near future.
Griffin joined Oklahoma Christian last fall as an advancement officer with primary responsibilities for raising funds for the College of Arts and Sciences. Prior to joining OC, she served as associate director of corporate and foundation relations at the University of Georgia. From 1997 to 2003, she was region director, supply chains solutions, with PREMIER INC. of Charlotte, N.C., where she was responsible for implementing more than 750 group purchasing contracts in more than 40 institutions in the Southeast.
Griffin is a cum laude graduate of Abilene Christian University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology.
