EDMOND — Community raising funds for Coyle School marquee

The Coyle School Foundation along with the Coyle, Langston and Meridian PTA has continued a fundraising campaign to place an electronic marquee along the highway advertising school and community events.

The campaign will continue on Saturday, Oct. 3 with a Community Day at Coyle School. A volleyball tournament will be at 2 p.m. with other events and a community dinner and pie auction taking place at 5 p.m. at the Coyle School cafeteria.

The barbecue dinner, which will include coleslaw, baked beans and bread, costs $5 for adults and $3 for children. The dinner will be at the Coyle School cafeteria. Homemade pies and desserts donated by area church groups and other individuals will be auctioned during the dinner.

Team registrations for the volleyball tournament are due Wednesday. Teams will be 6-8 members with three men and three women on the court and no spiking. The registration fee is $60. Those interested in registering should contact Julie Weathers at 202-7915.

The cost of the marquee is expected to be about $28,000. “We are very glad that over $19,000 has been raised for the marquee. Other fundraising efforts include engraved bricks which will help provide funding.
