Deer Creek cheer team brings home state trophy

EDMOND — The Deer Creek High School cheer team won first place in the Class 5A State Championships.

Nineteen teams competed at the OSSAA State competition in Skiatook on Oct. 3.

“Deer Creek cheerleaders were state runner-up in 2007 and 2008 and worked very hard to achieve their goals of winning the state championship in 2009,” said sponsor Carrie Keller. Keller has worked with the team since 2005.

Megan Ewy is the varsity sponsor.
