Deer Creek teacher speaks about literacy

EDMOND — Karen Weiss, right, a teacher at Deer Creek Grove Valley Elementary, visits with Stephanie Stallsmith from the Tulsa Community Foundation about her experience attending the Summer Literacy Institute at Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass.

Weiss was among 72 educators who received Fund for Teachers fellowships to participate in self-designed professional development opportunities around the world. Weiss was one of the featured exhibitors at a Program Showcase highlighting programs sponsored by the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence, a nonprofit organization that recognizes and encourages academic excellence in Oklahoma’s public schools.
