Edmond’s 2 Goddard Schools expand, open at new location
EDMOND — The two Goddard Schools in Edmond are making news. One just made a move to a new location and the other is breaking ground for a new annex.
The Goddard School on north Western, which just completed its sixth year, recently broke ground for a $2 million, 1,260-square-foot addition. The other Goddard School on north Covell is celebrating its grand opening today.
Both schools are noted for being premier preschool and childcare centers for children from 6 weeks to 6 years old.
The Goddard School on north Western has 135 children enrolled at this time.
“With our new addition, The Goddard School Annex, we will be able to handle 162 children in our before and after school care program,” said co-owner Keith May. “It will also help us with our all-day kindergarten program.”
May’s daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Jay McIntosh, are also co-owners of The Goddard School on north Western.
At The Goddard School, children are encouraged to develop at their own pace in a warm environment supported by a team of dedicated teachers.
The children start getting sensory teaching even as infants, learning to respond to stimulus around them, May said. At the age of 2 the children are taught music, movement, colors, numbers and shapes.
“Our children start smearing things around, and they learn to sign when they are 6 months old,” May said.

North basketball clinic to benefit BALTO Week
Seventeen years ago, the Edmond North High School Student Council Leadership Class wanted to begin a charity week.
Swine Week at Edmond Memorial High School was already established, and some would argue that North copied their tradition, but the students began BALTO week, a week all their own.
“The name ‘BALTO Week’ is an acronym quite fitting to our school,” said North student Callie Heerwagen. - More Education Headlines
