School districts offer simpler way to pay for meals

EDMOND — Edmond and Deer Creek school districts both have simplified the method for parents to go online and set up student accounts for meal plans.

MyPaymentsPlus is the online lunch account management program used in Edmond.

“Among other things it allows parents to put money on student accounts, check balances and review purchases online,” said Child Nutrition Director Dan Lindsey. “Parents can also set up low-balance email reminders.”

The only thing necessary for a parent to set up an account for his/her student is the student’s ID number provided by the schools.

“You can check it out at mypaymentsplus.com,” Lindsey said.

Previously called MealPayPlus, the name was changed this year because more than just lunch account management is offered for other districts, Lindsey said. Anyone using the old web address (www.mealpayplus.com), is automatically re-routed to the new one, Lindsey said.

The free MyPaymentsPlus app is the first and only K12 online payment solution for school meals available in the mobile world.

The MyPaymentsPlus app utilizes the same security methods used by leading online and mobile banking services. To download, search “MyPaymentsPlus” in the Apple iTunes store. The app is  available for the iPhone and iPad and is being developed for Google’s Android system.

Deer Creek’s Food Service Department provides MyNutrikids.com for parents to deposit money into their child’s school meal account at any time.

Food services director for Deer Creek Lisa Hall said the convenient, easy and secure online prepayment service also provides parents the ability to view their child’s account balance or to deposit money into their child’s school meal account at any time.

“By having money in each child’s account prior to entering the cafeteria, we find the lunch lines move along much faster so your child has more time to eat and be with friends,” Hall said.

Parents also have the ability to print out a copy of their child’s eating history report. This history report shows all dates and times that a child has purchased a breakfast or lunch within the past 30 days.

For more information or to purchase the online meal payment plan, go to the district website at www.DeerCreekSchools.org, then click on Food Services from the Administration Menu button, click on the link to MyNutrikids.com OR go to www.MyNutrikids.com.

From this site parents can create an account and add money to their child’s school meal account. All that is necessary is the child’s name, student ID number and school ZIP code.

If a parent chooses not to take advantage of the online prepayment service they may continue to make advance payments via check, which should be made payable to the Deer Creek School District. Be sure to write the child’s full name on the check.
