Two Edmond Public Schools campuses are without electric power, and crews are working to address the situation, personnel said.
At about 1:30 p.m. Thursday, power was out in the Ketch substation area, according to the Edmond Electric outage map. City spokesman Casey Moore confirmed the scope of the outage and said crews were working to restore power. Timeline for restoration was not immediately available.
Moore said there are 1,690 customers effected by the outage in the area between Danforth and Covell and between Santa Fe and Kelly.
“The field crews are having to drive the lines to locate the problem before energizing,” Moore said. “This could take up to a couple of hours before power is restored.”
Edmond Public Schools spokeswoman Susan Parks-Schlepp said power was out at John Ross Elementary School, 1901 Thomas Drive, and Cheyenne Middle School, 1271 W. Covell Road.
“We are making calls to the city to determine how long the outage might last,” Parks-Schlepp said.
Police spokeswoman Jenny Monroe said traffic lights are out at Danforth and Santa Fe. An officer is on scene directing traffic.
