EDMOND — Alley Roberts, Kelsey Tiger and Molly Shivers all slugged home runs in the nightcap as Central Oklahoma rebounded from an opening game defeat to split a two-game series with Northwest Missouri Tuesday afternoon.
Bearcat pitcher Cola Krueger handcuffed UCO in the opener, limiting the home squad to one lone base hit as Northwest Missouri earned a 3-0 victory before the Bronchos overcame a three-run deficit by scoring seven runs in their final four trips to the plate and win 7-3 in the later contest to split the doubleheader.
UCO, 18-8 on the season will see extensive action this upcoming weekend as they travel to Durant for the Lone Star Conference Crossover. The Bronchos will play seven games over a three-day span and open the tournament Friday when they square off with Angelo State, Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Kingsville.
“We weren’t patient at the plate in the opening game and didn’t make their pitcher work much at all,” said UCO head coach Genny Stidham. “I was much happier with our offense in the second game, we looked much better at the plate and thats the way I expect us to swing the bats at the LSC Crossover this weekend.”
Roberts totaled three hits and three RBI in the victory while Brandt added a multi-hit effort with a single and double.
