Several baseball tournaments will be getting underway today, as Memorial and Santa Fe head east to the Broken Arrow/Jenks Tournament, Deer Creek will begin play in the Pryor Tournament, and Oklahoma Christian School hosts its own tournament.
Deer Creek will face 6Aï¿?s Tahlequah in the opening game at 5 p.m., then will follow with a game against 5Aï¿?s No. 8-ranked Pryor at 7:30 p.m. They will then face Checotah on Friday at 5 p.m.
ï¿?Tahlequah didnï¿?t get off to a great start, but I think theyï¿?ve won their last six games,ï¿? Antlers head coach Ron Moore said. ï¿?Pryor is always good, they are ranked eighth or ninth. There will be some very good teams in this tournament. The other bracket is very good too, the first two days will decide whether or not we see them.ï¿?
Moore said that Claremore, Catoosa and Skiatook are in the other bracket.
No. 2-ranked Santa Fe (15-1) will play a doubleheader today, in a bracket that includes Edmond Memorial, Joplin (Mo.). The other side of the bracket includes No. 8 Broken Arrow, No. 3-ranked Jenks, No. 15 Sand Springs and Tulsa Memorial.
ï¿?Itï¿?s a stacked tournament. We play a doubleheader on Thursday, then we play one game on Friday,ï¿? Santa Fe head coach Lonny Cobble said.
The Oklahoma Christian School Saints (5-1) will be hosting its tournament today through Saturday.
Check Fridayï¿?s copy of the paper, or go online at edmondsun.com on Thursday night to see how all the teams fared, along with scores and photos from the OCS Tournament.
