Jackson Ogle shot a 5-over 75 to take medalist honors on Thursday at Pawnee Municipal Golf Course, leading Oklahoma Christian School to a third place finish.
It was Ogle’s first career start, in the Saints first tournament of the season.
“The conditions were tough, it’s a nine-hole course, and the wind changed directions on the final nine holes, but I really don’t think it gave an advantage to anyone. I was one-under with seven holes left, but I made a couple of bad shots at the end,” Ogle said.
Blackwell’s Logan Jones finished second in the tournament with a 77, while Jordan Black shot a 78.
“I was pleased that Jackson remained patient with his round and did not let the suboptimal scoring conditions force him into making mistakes. He maintained a focus on hitting fairways and greens and it clearly paid off for him. While he didn’t score as well as he is capable his steady play was good enough to secure the medalist spot,” OCS head coach Patrick Hall said.
The Saints have a young team, which includes Alex Rindels, Scotty Verplank, Andrew Tesler, and first-year golfer George Overbey.
OCS will head to Hinton on Monday, to play in a tournament at Sugar Creek Canyon, which is the site of the 2A state championship.
