The Edmond Memorial boys made sure they will not be leaving anyone behind on Friday, when they head to the Class 5A state tennis tournament. The No. 2-ranked Bulldogs will be bringing all six players with them, after placing first at Monday’s regional tournament at Earlywine Tennis Center.
“We had a a good day, it was right where we were seed, so it all worked out, and I think we’ll be in the hunt at state,” Memorial coach Randy Mays said.
The ‘Dogs earned three first place finishes and one second place finish. Freshman Truit Gray won the No. 2 singles competition, with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Westmoore’s Thomas Tran.
Memorial swept the doubles competitions, with two-time state qualifiers, Duncan Fugitt and Zach White taking the No. 1 doubles title, and senior Aaron Krauss and sophomore Bowen Xu winning the No. 2 doubles.
Sophomore Bryce Merritt took second at No. 1 singles, after losing 6-1, 6-2 to Rocky Vo of Westmoore.
