Central Oklahoma basketball fans got an early glimpse of things to come on Thursday night, as recruits Brentrell Friday (PC North) and Shane Carroll (Mustang) competed in the Big All-City Games at Putnam City West.
The two competed for the West squad, and enjoyed their time on the court together.
“This was the first time that we’ve actually been on the same team, when we’ve faced in the past we’ve usually butted heads, but it was great to be on the same team. It was our first game together, but we were clicking from the start,” Carroll said.
The West lost the fast-paced game 110-103, but trailed by as many as 20 points early in the second half.
Friday plans to play point guard for Bronchos next season, while Carroll is going to a guard in a Sam Belt-esque role. And both picked UCO because they like to get up and down the court.
“I like Coach Evans offense, they play that run-n-gun style, and I like that,” Friday said. “And they made it to the Elite Eight last year, they win, and that played a big factor.”
“I mainly came because of Coach. They like to get up and down the floor, and if you can shoot the ball and get rebounds you will play. The other thing I like is that Coach Evans subs his guards a lot, it seems like everyone gets to play,” Carroll added.
